Accessories make everything better

Wedding Planning, shopping, pinning…soo many things to do and decide on. Then comes the details like choosing wedding hair accessories or headpiece for your big day you know you’re spoiled for options. We know its overwhelming, so we have put together this guide to assist with choosing the perfect piece.

The post will give you  guidance on where to start, what comes next, what you need to consider. The main thing to remember that your wedding hair accessory should suit your wedding hairstyle and your wedding dress.

1. The Wedding Dress!

Before buying your hair accessories, you need to have chosen a wedding dress. Its best to match your hair accessory, hairstyle, shoes, makeup, etc with your bridal gown . Consider the colour of your gown and the embellishments because you want your hair accessory to blend with the overall look.Look for gold/rose gold or pearls for a ivory or champagne wedding dress. Look at the embellishment details of your dress and find them in your hair accessory. For example if your dress has floral  jewel then look a hair accessory that also has similar attributes.

2. Wedding Hairstyle

Whether you have already chosen a hairstyle or not, you can work with your hairstylist to decide on a hairstyle first at your trial and then find your accessory. Maybe you have found the perfect wedding hair accessory, this can help you then decide on the style that you will go with.

An up-do and a down-do hairstyle will require different type of hair accessories. For example, if you are planning to wear your hair down and you have thin hair, a comb won’t work in this condition but instead a headband will be perfect.

3. Wedding Jewellery

Your wedding jewellery plays an important part of your accessories.  You don’t need to many statement pieces, so if you plan on wearing a pair of large statement earrings, then you might want to go for a much simpler hair accessory. If your jewelry has less bling, you can consider wearing statement hair accessory. If you want to have your jewellery and your wedding dress as the focus, then it’s wise not to go overboard with your hair accessory. Don’t create too many distracting features and aim for focus on your favourite piece.

Wedding Hair Accessories & Styles:

Hair Comb

Add a beautiful bridal hair comb adorned with crystals, rhinestones or pearls for the perfect accent for any bridal hairstyle from all down, half up half down or a beautiful updo. Hair combs can be worn to the side or back depending on style of comb.

Hair Pins

If your not looking to make a WOW statement but need just a touch of shine,  hair pins might just be what you need. Versatile and subtle, hair pins are perfect for any hairstyle though it is usually much preferable to be worn with half up or full updo. You can add just one pin or a few depending on the style you are creating.

Hair Vines

The newest trend in bridal hair accessories is definitely the bridal hair vine. It is usually embellished with crystals, pearls and jewels and are perfect for any hairstyle. Create a romantic or boho chic look, hair vines can be bent and manipulated into different shapes. Twist a hair vine in the back of a soft braided updo, around a bridal bun, on the top of your head like a headband or for an even more dramatic look, hair vines can be worn across the forehead! Because they are so versatile they work perfectly for your bridal party if you plan on choosing different style without the worry of finding an accessory for each hairstyle.

Headband/hairband

A Headband or hairband is the perfect hair accessory for any hair length; short, medium or long and can be worn with any hairstyle whether it’s a full updo, half down or full down.  You can also add ribbon to the headband and tie under your hair.  Choose a blingy one with lots of crystals for a statement or a dainty understated piece for just a slight touch of glamour.

Tiara/Crown

Put on a crown and rock your day!

Dramatic Lavish Crowns are in right now and we have a major crush on them. Go for the large crystal encrusted crowns for a true princess statement or maybe a more “adam and eve” golden leaves and pearl kind of earthy statement. If your not the statement crown kind of bride then opt for a smaller tiara to add some sparkle to your updo.

Hope this guide has helped you on your journey to find the perfect hair accessory.
